Last week I enjoyed a few of the beautiful events that Melbourne had to offer. It was one of those chilly days where I was quite happy to be attending some indoor events.
First up was Melbourne Central’s one day shopping festival. The centre put on quite a show with many retailers offering great savings. There were services from Mecca Maxima, Toni and Guy as well as a range of Food Trucks to feed the troops. I also got a chance to check out the King Kong costumes photographic exhibition which is well worth a look and completely free.

I then attended The Clothing Exchange’s clothes swap evening which was held at Shebeenย in the city. I hadn’t been to a clothes swapping event before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The rules were quite simple- bring up to 6 items that you would like to swap- if your items are up to scratch then you receive 6 buttons which you will then use to ‘purchase’ 6 items of your choice. It’s always risky I guess at these events that you will end up with nothing at all that you like, after handing in 6 of your items. The girls are quite good at checking out the items to make sure everything is on par, although I must say I think a few pieces must have slipped in that should not have been there. I ended up taking a pair of leather ankle boots, a leather fringed bag, a Zara jacket, a Marc Jacobs jacket, a Nicola Finetti jacket and some earrings. Not name dropping but just giving you a sense of the calibre of clothing I took. My philosophy is ‘don’t take anything you wouldn’t want to take home’. Unfortunately this wasn’t everyone’s philosophy. Having said that I did have a fantastic time, the event was perfectly organised and run and I did get to take home 2 beautiful silk dresses, a couple of summer tops and some Zara pants. Happy girl!

And finally- the icing on the cake- the amazing pork slider from Shebeen. The perfect ending to a perfect day. X
Ohh, I had heard about the clothes swap – what a great idea!
It sure is! Such a great way to recycle your clothes. X
