Fade away

Although I haven’t been pregnant for well over 5 years now, I am still left with a few souvenirs. Some I’m super thankful for and others I could happily do without. Lets just say that my hips are fuller while my breasts are not.

The most noticeable and annoying thing for me however is the pigmentation that has been left on my face. While I was actually pregnant it was much worse- in fact I had a Gorbachev like mark right in the middle of my forehead. Thankfully that’s gone but I do still have a few patches on the top of my cheeks under my eyes. Look for your self:

As tempting as it was to photoshop this photo for you I left it au natural so you can see what I’m talking about. Hyper-pigmentation occurs for a variety of reasons- too much exposure to the sun or an increase in hormones (oestrogen) either from being pregnant or taking the pill. I’ve been using Vitamin C serum for a few years now and have noticed an improvement- but Vitamin C will not break down the pigmentation it merely makes it less noticeable and prevents any more from occurring. Wearing sunscreen is also of utmost importance as I notice the pigmentation darkens when I’m out in the sun.

So, having said that I’m now trialling a new product which claims to break down the pigmentation by getting down deep into the epidermis. It’s a serum that I use every night after cleansing my face. It contains natural whitening agents which also help to even out the complexion. I’ve only been using it for a few weeks so I probably won’t see any change for at least 3 months. I’ll keep you updated and let you know if it works. X
